Tools for Knowing
There are a number of useful tools that are widely used. The most
commonly used ones are:
- The South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS). It was created by Henry Lesieur, Ph.D. and Sheila Blum, S.B. and is copyrighted in 1992 by the
South Oaks Foundation who only asks that their ownership be acknowledged
when someone uses this instrument. It has been widely researched and
remains a useful tool
- Gamblers Anonymous created a series of questions, called
The 20
Questions. Included is this list and their description of a Compulsive
Gamblers
- Spouses, family members, friends, and associates of compulsive
gamblers are profoundly affected by the addiction of the person in their
lives. The 20 Questions of Gam-Anon are included for you to check
yourself.
- The Lie-Bet Tool is a brief set of questions for hospitals,
physicians, mental health professionals, clergymen, and many other
helpers is included.
